LA POLCURA

Valparaíso Region

In 2019, the La Polcura Artisanal Fishers Union signed the Collaboration Agreement with Capital Azul Foundation for the establishment of the La Polcura TURF-Reserve, located in the township of La Ballena, at the northern entrance of the Valparaíso region. This non-extractive marine area occupies 15 hectares of surface, and it is located in the central part of the Territorial User Rights for Fisheries (TURF or AMERB, as abbreviated in Spanish), called Polcura, which is managed by this group of artisanal fishers. This TURF has 260 hectares of surface.

The TURF-Reserve will be the key to demonstrate over time the true growth of something natural.
